UK Study Process for Students from Nepal

1. Initial Student Counseling & Eligibility Check

🔹 Consultancy Role:

  • Provide free counseling sessions to students.

  • Assess academic background, English level, financial status, and career goals.

🔹 Key Factors:

  • Academic Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s: Minimum 55%+ in 10+2 or A-level equivalent.

    • Master’s: Minimum 55%+ in Bachelor’s degree.

  • English Requirements:

    • IELTS (usually 6.0–6.5, no band less than 5.5).

    • Some universities accept MOI (Medium of Instruction) letters.

  • Gap Policy:

    • Undergraduate: up to 2–3 years accepted.

    • Postgraduate: up to 5–7 years, if justified with work experience.


2. Course & University Selection

🔹 Consultancy Role:

  • Match the student’s academic profile with UK universities.

  • Suggest 3–5 universities to maximize offer chances.

🔹 Key Considerations:

  • Location preference (London, Birmingham, Manchester, etc.).

  • Tuition fees & scholarships.

  • Course availability (Business, IT, Nursing, Engineering, etc.).

  • Graduate route (Post-Study Work visa opportunities).


3. Application Process

🔹 Steps:

  1. Collect academic documents (SLC/SEE, +2, bachelor’s if PG, transcripts, certificates).

  2. Prepare SOP (Statement of Purpose).

  3. Collect LOR (Letter of Recommendation) if required.

  4. Submit application via UCAS or directly to universities.

🔹 Consultancy Role:

  • Guide students in SOP writing.

  • Ensure documents are correctly notarized and scanned.

  • Track application updates.


4. Offer Letter & CAS

🔹 Two Stages:

  • Conditional Offer Letter (COL): issued if pending requirements (IELTS, financial docs, etc.).

  • Unconditional Offer Letter (UOL): once all conditions are met.

  • CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies): final document needed for visa application.

🔹 Consultancy Role:

  • Help students meet conditions quickly.

  • Ensure deposit payment (usually £2000–£5000).

  • Collect financial documents for CAS interview readiness.


5. Financial Documentation

🔹 UKVI (UK Visas & Immigration) requires proof of:

  • Tuition Fee Balance + Living Cost.

  • Living cost (outside London: £9,207/year, inside London: £12,006/year).

🔹 Accepted Proof:

  • Bank Balance (28 days maturity).

  • Fixed Deposit (FD).

  • Education Loan from approved banks.

🔹 Consultancy Role:

  • Advise students on financial planning early.

  • Connect with local banks if needed.


6. Pre-CAS Interview

🔹 Conducted by the University.

  • Covers: reasons for choosing UK, course knowledge, financial ability.

🔹 Consultancy Role:

  • Train students with mock interviews.

  • Provide FAQ practice.


7. Visa Application (Student Route – Tier 4)

🔹 Documents Required:

  • CAS letter.

  • Academic documents.

  • English proficiency certificate.

  • Bank statement/FD/Education Loan.

  • TB test report (from IOM Nepal).

  • Passport & photos.

🔹 Process:

  1. Online visa application (UKVI).

  2. Pay Visa Fee + IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge).

  3. Book biometrics appointment (VFS Global, Kathmandu).

  4. Submit documents & attend biometrics.

🔹 Consultancy Role:

  • Guide students in filling the visa form.

  • Double-check financials before submission.

  • Assist with IHS payment.


8. Visa Decision

  • Normal processing: 3–6 weeks.

  • Priority service: 1 week (extra cost).


9. Pre-Departure Support

🔹 Consultancy Role:

  • Book flight tickets.

  • Arrange airport pickup (if partnered).

  • Pre-departure orientation (culture, part-time jobs, rules).

  • Accommodation guidance (university halls, private housing).


10. After Arrival (UK)

🔹 Students must:

  • Collect BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) within 10 days.

  • Register with GP (doctor).

  • Open UK bank account.
